Roxio Toast 10 TitaniumIf you want this software to run on MAC OS X Version 10.6.2 to transfer programs from a Tivo DVR to your Mac, be aware that it does not work. Some Tivo programs will only partially transfer using the “Tivo Transfer” function (e.g., you’ll get 35 minutes of a 60 minute program) and others will not transfer at all. The Toast Video Player that is part of this software does not play watchable video and it has no audio for the 35 minutes of programming that you might be able to transfer. I could watch the partial programs through iTunes, but just as you get interested in the program, it ends abruptly because Toast 10 did not transfer the full program content.
Well, Customer Service should be able to help, right? Wrong. You can send them a free email and they will give you a solution that does not work and that comes in a “No Reply” email. Each time you send them an email, they open up a new service report and then inexplicably close the service report even when the problem has not been solved. Or, if you use their telephone number, you have to give a credit card number to reach a representative in the Philippines. These representatives are so poorly trained that they don’t even know to ask if you are on a Mac or PC, what operating system you are using, and what version of their product you are using. After my multiple phone calls, a supervisor in the Philippines said she would have someone at “corporate” give me a call. The call never came. But I did get a nice email, again in a no reply format, telling me that since it had been five days, my concerns were assumed to be solved and my service report was closed. I followed their instructions in this email to log into Support and I sent a message saying the problems were not fixed and I was waiting for the call from corporate. After 22 days of waiting and no return call, I returned the product back to Amazon as defective.
Too bad, I really wanted my Tivo television programs on my computer/iPod for traveling.
